To Outer Space by W. E. Johns was first published in 1957 by Hodder and Stoughton. This is the fourth in a series of books about space exploration and featuring the recurrent characters Group Captain Timothy "Tiger" Clinton, his son, Rex Clinton and Professor Lucius Brane.
 
The previous books in the series are Kings of Space, Return to Mars, and Now to the Stars. Subsequent books are The Edge of Beyond, The Death Rays of Ardilla, and To Worlds Unknown.
