The Security Demographic: Population and Civil Conflict after the Cold War (2003) By Richard P. Cincotta et al.

Do trends in the human population affect a country's chances of civil war? According to a new report from Population Action International, countries with a high number of young adults were more likely to suffer a civil conflict during the 1990s.

Population Action International (PAI) is an international, non-governmental organization which uses research and advocacy to improve global access to family planning and reproductive health care. Its mission is to "ensure that every person has the right and access to sexual and reproductive health, so that humanity and the natural environment can exist in balance with fewer people living in poverty". PAI's headquarters is in Washington, D.C.
