The Bitter End: The Fall Of Singapore 1941-42 (1982) By Richard Holmes & Anthony Kemp

On 9 December, 1941, Japanese troops landed on the Malayan peninsula and so began a savage campaign that was to end little more than two months later, on 15 February, 1942, with the surrender to the Imperial Japanese Army of the 'impregnable' naval base, its garrison, and the City of Singapore itself. This book chronicles the series of tactical and strategic mis-calculations that led to the surrender.
