Operation Survival (1966) By J.K. Preston
Faced with a heavy German attack the Greek Government asked for a British force to cover the position west of Salonika. Following the collapse of the resistance in Yugoslavia the small British force, strengthened by Australian and New Zealand troops, fight their way back towards the beaches where they were due to unite with the light forces of the Mediterranean fleet. Some men were left behind, following the main Allied withdrawal, to play a grim game of hide-and-seek with the enemy before they met up with the Greek resistance. The no-holds-barred battles that ensued are told here most realistically.
