Komet: The Messerschmitt 163 (1978) By Jeffrey L. Ethell

The little known Komet-capable of reaching 30,000 ft in 2.5 minutes and flying at 600 mph. Dangerous to bomber formations due to its ability to swoop down at breakneck speeds and just as dangerous to its pilots. The Komet had a nasty habit of exploding on touchdown and encasing the pilot in a death trap of highly volatile chemical fuels that could eat away metal and which on contact with flesh burst into flames. More Komets were lost in landing mishaps than through enemy action. Loaded with eyewitness accounts, official records and over 200 well-chosen photographs
