Battles of the Indian Mutiny (1963) By Michael Edwardes

The Mutiny has a very special place in the history of British India. One the British side more was written about it than about any other episode in the whole period of the British connextion. Indians, during the years of nationalist agitation before freedom came in 1947, saw it as a war of independence. Consequently the story of the Mutiny has been overlaid with a thick veneer of propaganda which, by concentrating on the social and political causes and consequences, has effectively obscured the military aspects. This book seeks to describe the Mutiny from a military view.
